- A BIT OF POSITIVITY

“Finding your passion” this is something many of us may hear quit often, but what exactly does this mean for you? That phrase can be frustrating when you aren’t sure what you are doing in life.
I am a true believer God placed us on Earth to fulfill a specific purpose. Each one of us has a special gift that we are meant to fulfill. We just have to spend time on ourselves in order to identify these gifts or purposes. I like to call our purpose, a “gift” as I think this is something each one of was gifted with, and each person has a unique “gift” that was specifically meant for them.
With that being said, I have been on my own journey of self-discovery for over the last decade, and it took me a while to learn two truths about finding our unique gifts.
The first truth being It is okay to have more than one gift.
Many times we are told we are only to be good at one thing. I had an ex that would constantly tell me that I was a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None”. Every time he would say that it would make me literally cringe inside. I didn’t know this then, but it is because I was actually pursuing multiple gifts at the same time. I let his own self- limiting beliefs coincide with mine. When I realized that those were limiting beliefs, and I changed my limiting beliefs by telling myself that it was okay to have more than one gift. When I made this self-discovery, I had the great pleasure of speaking at one of my Women’s Entrepreneur groups. Typically these meetings would have about 20-30 women in attendance, this particular meeting had 80 + women in attendance. I was speaking that evening about the importance of your business having a social media presence. When I got on stage, something in my heart told me I needed to share my story about how I began career by owning my own wedding planning company and transition my gifts into several career endeavors. I knew I wanted to help people, and helping people plan one of their biggest days in their life brought me great joy until one day several years later, I felt I had another calling to pursue. I decided I wanted to help start-up businesses succeed in this day and age. I shared my story of how I transitioned my skill-sets and utilized my experience to change career paths. When I shared with the crowd that it is was okay to have more than one gift, it seemed almost as if I gave these ladies permission to pursue their multiple God-given gifts. After I finished speaking, I had several young women come up to me and thank me for sharing my story and that they will be taking that leap of faith to begin their self-discovery journeys.
The second truth being when you are pursuing your gift, it will bring you pure joy.
Have you ever been working on something for hours and it brought so much life to you? You suddenly finish what you were doing after several hours and you realize that your spirit is renewed and refreshed? That is a sign you were in alignment with your gift.
Once, I realized this, I began to take inventory on the things I was doing. If it did not feel right, then I decided to let that pursuit go. On the other hand, if it did bring me joy, I would keep pursuing that gift and see where God wanted this gift to take me. I truly believe in order to have a positive, happy and prosperous life; you must be in alignment with your gift.

Okay, okay! I know, I just spent half of this blog talking about how great it is pursuing your gift, but I bet you are wondering well… how do I find what my gifts are?
I am going to share with you my top methods to find out your God-given gifts so you can begin to transform your life. This will be a great time to take notes.
1) Ask yourself these questions: “Who do I want to help?,” “What problem do I want to solve?” and/or “What solution do I want to provide?”
Get really specific; spend some quiet time meditating on these questions to help your narrow your focus. Many times, we say we want to help people, but that can look different to everyone. You can want to help the homeless, and want to start a non-profit organization that provide housing and food to the homeless. For me, helping people mean helping people lift limiting beliefs about themselves and start building more confidence to live the life they were always meant to life.
2) Let’s go back to the inventory list I mentioned before. Take inventory of everything you are doing in life, this means your job and hobbies. Then ask yourself “Is this something you love doing?”
If your hobby is something you love doing, you just need to research the possibilities of making money from it.
3) Pay attention what you spend your time reading or looking on social media about.
Instagram and Facebook does a good job of setting your algorithms to match what you are viewing. For example, for me I love helping people with their confidence, so I see a lot of positive videos and fitness videos because these are aligned with my passions/ gifts.
4) You many have some ideas in mind, but you are unsure of the direction to take. One thing my sister taught me at a very early age is to utilize your network. I would research people that are in the fields that you are interested in, and send them a message on LinkedIn asking if you could learn more about them and what they do to see if this is something that you would like to pursue.I would suggest spending some time really focusing on these methods and having quiet time. Sometimes I find the answer comes to me when my mind is clear and my heart is receptive.
Hope this brought a bit of positivity into you day!
Sending love and blessings,
Kit
